According to Randburg Police Station commander Colonel Andries Odendaal, the armed robbers struck as workers were in the process of opening the popular restaurant on Monday morning. Odendaal said one robber walked inside the restaurant and held workers at gunpoint, Fourways Review reported.
“One suspect went into the restaurant, pointed a firearm at the complainant and ordered everyone to lie down before emptying the tills,” said Odendaal.
The robbers then fled the scene with R30 000 in cash.
Odendaal added a case of armed robbery was being investigated and police were following positive leads. He said the execution of the robbery was fairly quick and precise and police could not rule out the possibility of an inside job.
“We can’t rule out that because the robbers seemed to know exactly where the money was,” he said.
Justin Bahrs, manager of the Tasha’s , confirmed the robbery but said none of his staff was robbed. “We have just been robbed. We opened a case with the police.”
