Goals from Siphelele Ntshangase and Ivan Mahangwahaya were enough to hand Black Leopards a 2-0 victory over Jomo Cosmos in the promotion/relegation play-off match at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The home started the better of the two sides and it didn’t come as a surprise when they took the lead in the 12th minute when Ntshangase beat Sherwin Naicker with a low shot.

Cosmos almost grabbed the equaliser two minutes later, however, Charlton Mashumba’s shot was saved by Avhashoni Tshinuna.

There was a scare for Cosmos late in the first half when Roggert Nyundu fell inside their penalty area, but the referee awarded Ezenkosi a free kick and gave Nyundu a yellow card for simulation.

The first half ended 1-0 to Leopards.

Leopards continued to pile the pressure on Cosmos and they were awarded with a second goal for their efforts as Mahangwahaya doubled their lead with a delightful finish.

Substitute Brice Aka was unlucky not to reduce the Leopards lead in the 78th minute when his header hit the post with Tshinuna well-beaten.

Lidoda Duvha hanged on to their lead until the final whistle and they currently lead Cosmos and Moroka Swallows by three points in the promotion/relegation standings.

Leopards will now face Swallows at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday night.

Cosmos’ next game is against the self-same Swallows at the Vaal University of Technology Stadium on Sunday.
