Before PSL clubs return for pre-season, a number of coaches and players would have learned their fate.
News coming from Maritzburg United is that coach Steve Komphela will remain at the club, despite interest from Premiership comeback kids Chippa United.
As things stand, the Team of Choice will be holding on to Komphela, with the Chilli Boys now pursuing Kosta Papic after the mentor failed to secure a PSL spot for Black Leopards.
Meanwhlile, the reason why Platinum Stars released Benson Mhlongo has surfaced. According to a source close to the saga, Mhlongo had a huge fall-out with coach Allan Freese.
“He was fighting with the coach,” the source said, “and there was no way he was going to get enough game-time should he had remained for another season”.
Mhlongo, above, who helped the team win the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout competition last year has been linked with a move to Moroka Swallows, but it seems the Chilly Boys have done enough to convince the former Orlando Pirates man to join the Phillipi-based side.
In other transfer news, Golden Arrows have allowed midfielder Ntlantla Zothwane to part ways with the club after they were relegated to the National First Division.
Already Bongi Ntuli and Siyanda Zwane are set to leave the club to join either Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns, while Philani Shange has caught the interest from both AmaZulu and Maritzburg.
Mpumalanga Black Aces have decided to take up the one-year extension on Onyekachi Okonkwo’s contract at the club.
