Hundreds of residents helped themselves before the authorities came.

Residents from Ezakheni in KwaZulu-Natal looted a truck Friday morning after it crashed, Ladysmith Gazette reports.

The truck was travelling away from Ezakheni, heading towards Ladysmith, when the crash took place.

It is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle. The truck overturned, blocking the entire roadway and it was carrying stationery in the form of school books.

Reports indicate that hundreds of people were grabbing what they could from the overturned truck.
