The men were armed with firearms, a hammer and a bag containing explosives.

A KFC outlet in Mabopane, Pretoria, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.

Police spokesperson Captain Reineth Motlana said a group of six men entered the fast food outlet at about 10.30pm on Sunday and ordered everyone to lie down, Rekord North reported.

“The men were armed with firearms, a hammer and a bag containing explosives,” she said.

Motlana said the store’s cashiers were then told to open the tills.

She said cashiers told the robbers the money was kept in a drop safe, which the men then blew up.

Motlana said after blowing up the safe, the thugs gathered the money and sped off in a getaway car.
