A man, 41, is expected to appear in court after he was arrested for theft and fraud in KwaZulu-Natal.

Pinetown police spokesperson Captain Bongumusa Manqele said 76-year-old woman was using an ATM on Friday, and the transaction was unsuccessful, Highway Mail reported.

“The victim went online and discovered that someone had made purchases of more than R30 000 from her account. R64 000 was also transferred from her account to another account,” said Manqele.

A case of theft and fraud was opened at the Pinetown SAPS for further investigation.

“The detectives traced the suspect, and he was apprehended at his place of employment in KwaDabeka. The suspect will be charged for theft and fraud and is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court soon,” added Manqele.
