Two housebreaking suspects have been arrested after they attempted to flee a house they were allegedly robbing in Chatsworth, in KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday.
According to the Montford Community Policing Forum’s Rogers Chinsamy, the two men were armed with knives, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.
“I noticed some activity in the house and notified the police, as I knew that nobody was supposed to be at home. We did not know that the 12-year-old boy who lives in the house had not gone to school today. Thankfully, he was unharmed,” he said.
The boy said he hid under the blanket when he saw the suspects in his bedroom and sat quietly, praying, as the men ransacked the house, whispering and breaking household items.
After police arrived at the house, both suspects jumped through an open window on the first floor of the home and attempted to flee.
One suspect was shot in the thigh while he was trying to flee, and both suspects were successfully apprehended. Police are still at the scene, and the area has been cordoned off.
