Two siblings sister faced off in a fight that left one fighting for her life in hospital and the other behind bars.

Happy Khumalo, 34, appeared at eSikhawini District Court on Thursday, facing an attempted murder charge.

She is accused of attacking her sibling with deadly acid in June following an argument over family matters, Zululand Observer reported.

The suspect was arrested in Johannesburg on Tuesday after police received a tip-off about her whereabouts.

Her sister Khethiwe Khumalo was reportedly preparing to go to work when the two had the confrontation, and her sister poured acid over her.

She had massive burns on her body and had to be rushed to Ngwelezana Hospital.

The victim is a known vendor who works outside the eSikhawini Magistrates’ Court.

While Khetiwe is still in the hospital’s burns unit, her sister will remain in custody until her next appearance on Friday, when she will apply for bail.
