Two teenaged boys are recovering in hospital after they were struck by a car while allegedly attempting to flee from robbers in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal. One of the boys suffered a broken leg and a severe head injury.

The victims were walking along Weightman Avenue towards the taxi rank when a group of men armed with knives allegedly jumped out from the bushes and accosted them at around 8am on Wednesday, Zululand Observer reported.

They were transported by ambulance to Ngwelezana Hospital for treatment.

Police could not yet confirm if a docket was opened as they still needed to obtain statements from all parties involved.
