The woman was ejected through the rear window of a Toyota Tazz and landed on the pavement.

A woman in a critical condition has been airlifted to hospital after an accident in Northmead, Benoni, in Gauteng, on Thursday morning.

The woman was reportedly ejected from a vehicle on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street at about 8.35am, Benoni City Times reports.

Spokesperson for ER24 paramedics, Kelly Burchell, said the woman, who was in the backseat of a Toyota Tazz, landed on the pavement.

She was flown to hospital in a critical condition.

A 17-year-old male front-seat passenger sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the Sunshine Hospital. The female driver was moderately hurt and was also transported to a healthcare facility.

The male driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
