Vehicles approaching the Mariannhill Toll Plaza had to turn around as roads were closed due to the crash on the N3 Durban-bound near the toll plaza.

Netcare 911’s Chris Botha said: “Paramedics and the fire services arrived at the scene and found the highway totally obstructed with the wreckages of the truck and a burning tanker. After examining the drivers they found that one was seriously burnt while the other driver escaped uninjured.”

Paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before transporting him to hospital in Durban.
