Two foreign nationals have been arrested in Delft, Cape Town, in connection with possession of an unlicensed stolen firearm and ammunition, Western Cape police said on Sunday.
Western Cape flying squad members and police reservists followed up information which led to the arrest of two foreign nationals on Saturday afternoon, Captain FC van Wyk said.
“The arrests took place in a spaza shop in Delft South. Members found a 9mm Astra Uncenta firearm with magazine and one round of ammunition in their possession,” he said.
The firearm was reported stolen in a case registered with the Milnerton SA Police Service in December 2013.
The two men, aged 20 and 26, face charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of presumed stolen property, Van Wyk said.
