A family iin Krugersdorp, on the West Rand has been left reeling after their one-year-old baby boy was found dead, floating in the family bath.
It is alleged the mother of the boy was busy with laundry on Saturday morning when she suddenly noticed her baby had disappeared while she hung up the washing, Krugersdorp News reported.
She frantically started searching the house when she made a shocking discovery and found the baby floating in the bath.
Shortly after paramedics from ER24 and Netcare 911 arrived.
The mother immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the baby after which CPF members took over.
Paramedics then administered CPR on baby boy was later pronounced dead on the scene.
It is believed the baby somehow landed up in the half full bath which the mother allegedly used to rinse the washing.
In a separate incident, a two-year-old-boy tragically drowned at a pool in Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal in March.
Paramedics at the time said the boy’s family found him floating face-down in the pool after he had gone missing.
Neighbours managed to pull the boy out of the water but he was declared upon the arrival of paramedics.
