“Similar events were being held across the country as well as in Chicago, USA.”

‘Enough is enough’ was the phrase echoing in the Johannesburg CBD as scores of protesters organized by the People’s Assembly gathered at the Library Gardens on Wednesday morning, calling for President Jacob Zuma to resign.

The organization is a collaboration between various civil society groups who met earlier this month to devise a plan of action to coerce Zuma out of office.

This was in response to the Constitutional Court judgment that said that the statesman  had acted by ignoring Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s remedial action in her Nkandla report on the upgrades to his private home.

The organization wants to gather support and funds for their #ZumaMustGo campaign. A member of the campaign’s standing committee Rev Moss Ntla said that they were approaching opposition parties as well as members of the ANC to join the cause.

Similar events were being held across the country as well as in Chicago, USA.
