Krugersdorp police, on the West Rand have issued a warning about the Merc gang’s modus operandi that has recently hit the area.

This after a man was shot and wounded in the stomach by one of the members of the Merc gang on Wednesday.

The man is currently recovering in ICU at a local hospital, Krugersdorp News reported.

The victim`s wife was attacked by two of the suspects who attempted to push her into the car after, but she put up a fight and they managed to forcefully remove her jewellery from her where after they fled with her handbag and cellphone.

A neighbour who wished to remain anonymous said: “I was in my garden at the time of the incident and I noticed a white Merc speeding down the street and taking a quick left. After they must have realised that the woman turned the other way, they turned around and raced back towards her.”

As the woman parked outside her house in the cul-de-sac, her husband who usually works in their garage met her at the gate.

The next moment a white Merc stopped next to where she was parked. One occupant pulled out a firearm, and shot her husband in the stomach without any warning, the neighbour said.

Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst said a general warning is herewith issued regarding their modus operandi. This is not the first incident where a white Mercedes is involved.

“Women who travel in the Krugersdorp area, leaving shopping centres and wearing expensive jewellery are targeted. The Krugersdorp SAPS would appreciate any information that might lead to the arrest of these suspects,” Ernst concluded.

Police are still on the lookout for the three suspects in the white Merc.
