All the patients were transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Seven school children are in a critical condition after a horror crash on the R66 in KwaZulu-Natal this morning.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said two bakkies transporting school pupils collided at the Ceza intersection, Zululand Observer reported.

“When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found multiple injured children. They immediately set about triaging and treating the injured,” added McKenzie.

McKenzie said several ambulance services were dispatched to the scene and to a local clinic, to where some of the injured children had been transported privately.

“Seven children sustained critical injuries, nine were in a serious condition and a further 15 had sustained minor injuries,” said McKenzie.

All the patients were transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the collision remains unknown.
