Locals enjoy food, art at east market

“There’s a lot of things to choose from and there are a lot of things you can’t buy anywhere else.”

Lovers of food, arts and culture made their way to the Pretoria High School Old Boys Club in Lynnwood to taste some delicious meals and enjoy some good wine too.

“It’s great,” said Laura Jane, who was attending the food market for the first time.

She went with her five-month-pregnant friend, Tanna May, who said that she hoped to bring her baby with her the next time she attended.

“I really can’t wait to come back here with my little baby.

“There’s a lot of things to choose from and there are a lot of things you can’t buy anywhere else,” she said.

May said they enjoyed the food and items for sale very much.

“There’s a lot of beautiful clothes as well and I’m hosting my baby shower at the market,” she said.

The Du Plessis family said they were out as a family to celebrate their daughter’s birthday.

“We live near here. We were here for a good day full of food and drinks.

“There’s nice cool stuff and nice food to try out and so we really enjoyed ourselves,” they said.

Chan Olwage said she wanted to do something different with her friend who was visiting.

“My friend Halene Myburgh found out about the event while googling and we decided to check it out.

“There’s this guy who does sketches with a pencil and it was cool to watch,” she said.

Myburgh said she had a lot of fun because everything was just interesting.

“The food was delicious and the sketches were definitely my pick for the day,” she said.

“We certainly didn’t waste our data finding this event!”
