Local rap artist to release first album

He named his first ep Blacksheep because he felt like everyone in the industry is calling themselves Goats so he decided to be the only sheep in the industry.

A local African Trap (hip-hop) artist wants to be “the sheep among the goats”.

Egypt da Don, who recently won double awards for best music video of the year 2020 and 2021, is currently releasing his first album, Blacksheep.

“The name Blacksheep came to me when I considered that everyone in the hip-hop industry is calling themselves a Goat (an abbreviation for Greatest Of All Time). Hence I decided to be the only sheep in the industry.” he said.

Egypt da Don is determined and passionate to see himself working with artists like Malome vector Emtee, Costa titch, Chad Da Don and more.

“Music has always been my passion,” he said.

“Although growing up I wasn’t in the industry, I was a soccer player and I was very passionate about playing soccer and become one of the best football stars in the world.”

He said everything took its own direction and in 2012 when he started rapping and trapping, he became very good in making international sound and rhythm.

“However, I still had a desire in me to sound ‘African’ that was because I felt that I could fill in the gap since a lot of hip-hop musicians were sounding more like international artists by then.”

In 2018, he changed his stage name from CeeQuence to Egypt’ Don.

“That was when everything about me changed, I started making music for the soul, writing and recording African trap music and making African rhythm.”

He has released four songs since then, working with various artists like Kashies89, Florde Jicasso and Pitsy who produced his four songs.

“Working with these artists brought so much experience to my music journey,” said Don Egypt.

“Our journey is looking colourful and we have been nominated a couple of times by few awards organisations, we have performed on small and big stages,” he said.

“We opened shows for a lot of well-established artists like K.O, Anatti. One of my music videos played on television for some time, we have had radio plays and interviews and up to this far, we really see where we are going,” he said.
