COMPETITION: We have Moretele Park concert tickets for you

Celebrating 25 years of democracy and remembering our fallen music legends

A dazzling 100 percent local line-up of SA top artists is expected to rock Moretele Park’s annual tribute concert 2019.

The concert, which will also celebrate the 25 years of democracy, promises to bring a stellar line-up of artists to the city of Tshwane, Mamelodi on 31 August.

Organiser Drakensberg Promotions said the line-up embraced diversity and promoted local content.

“The tribute concert is a vital link in celebrating South Africa’s diversity through music,” the organiser said adding that it had responded to the call to increase local content and pioneer the building and promotion of a 100 percent local content event as shown in this year’s programme.

“This year’s line-up is a star-studded procession of South African talent and includes living legend Caiphus Semenya, Simphiwe Dana, Zonke, Thandisiwa Mazwai, Sho Madjozi, Bhudaza, Vusi Nova, Thomas Chauke, Sun EL and longtime favourites Micasa, Mango Groove and Malaika.

Drakensberg secretary Hlengiwe Chonco said: “We are celebrating our fallen music heroes in celebrating these musicians. We will be organising a big band that will be playing music from the fallen musicians.

“Drakensberg Promotion will be giving a platform to development bands from Gauteng,” she said.

“In line with its commitment to the industry, Drakensberg will also host a music business workshop in Pretoria on August 27th as part of the event.

“The workshop is aimed at musicians, practitioners and interested parties in the sector who want to know more about the business of music. The workshop will bring in key expertise to share insights, best practice and knowledge,” Chonco said.

Tribute Concert tickets can be booked at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers at R300 each.

Drakensberg is giving away 10 double tickets to Rekord readers. To win, fill out the competition form and with the keyword “TRIBUTE”.
