VIDEO: COMPETITION: Jason Bradley to bring country to Pretoria

This talented country singer is coming to Pretoria. Stand a chance to win tickets to see his show.

A proudly South African country star who hasn’t forgotten his roots, Jason Bradley, is booked to perform all over Pretoria in the coming weeks, promising to make you fall in love with country music all over again.

This talented singer, originally from the Free State, started his music career in the UK, but quickly came back to his homeland.

Bradley is no stranger to the music scene. His first television appearance was on the KYKNet Country Show, with Juanita Du Plessis. Since then he has become a TV personality, featuring on SA’s top shows like Noot vir NootMusiek Roulette, Jam, Skoonma/pa se Tong, Jukebox and many more.

“The motivation behind my music is people. To see people enjoy music is one of the greatest gifts, especially to see how music can make a difference in life. My inspiration comes from many places, but if I had to pick one, I’d say “classic swing” similar to Michael Bublé’s style,” he explains.

He has performed at some of the biggest festivals in SA, as well as Mozambique and Namibia, and has been part of almost every Country Legends & Friends Show at Carnival City since 2007.

His most recent success, was as only opening act for the Bellamy Brothers Tour 2017.

With his upcoming tour to Pretoria, Jason looks forward to expressing what he learnt in other countries.

“I’m very excited to come to Pretoria, and play my new music to my family here. I love showing people what I have gained in other countries, and to have people listen to my sound.”

Bradley’s love and adoration for country music came about many years ago.

“I discovered a Brad Paisley CD in an old car I bought (I love restoring old cars) and it only grew stronger from there. My love of gospel was always a part of my life. Combining the two started when I began to make music and experiment.”

Bradley understands that country is a relatively small part of what South Africans listen to, but he hopes to change that in 2019 when he brings out a unique CD with an exceptional sound with a distinct American influence.

“In 2019 I’ll be releasing a new album that was partly written by songwriters who have written for Blake Shelton, Steven Tyler, Chris Young, Michael Peterson and Nickleback, to name a few. It was written in Nashville, and my goal is to create concrete support for country music in our beautiful country.”

If you think about country music, and you’re not familiar with it, you might get the image of people square dancing in a barn, but there is more to it than that.

“One of the hardest things about this industry is introducing modern country music to the younger generation,” says Bradley.

He might be popular overseas, but his heart screams “braaivleis”. He adores his local fans and hopes to inspire them with the same kind of passion for country that he feels each time he performs.

“One of the highlights of my career is definitely being invited by the International Country Awards in Texas. But my tour to New Zealand was equally amazing.”

Bradley is looking forward to coming to Pretoria and blowing your socks off with his sound. He told Rekord that although he has met some of country music’s top artists, he really would like to work with some South African talents.

“These include Riana Nel, Roan Ash, Monique Steyn and Ricus Nel,” he concludes.
