VIDEO: Rietfontein resident to star in upcoming film
Filming for Soetendalsvlei will start in January next year.
A resident from the Moot will star in a film next year.
Pierre van Niekerk from Rietfontein said filming for Soetendalsvlei was set to start in January next year.
Van Niekerk said the movie was based on a book by Joey Jansen, titled Soetendalsvlei se Bruid.
“Christine is a famous model that catches the eye of a successful businessman and farmer, Olaff,” he explained.

“He sees her as his soul mate, but she is already engaged. A car accident leaves Christine without a career and she has also broke off the engagement.”
“After finding out, Olaff thinks of a plan to buy time, literally, so that he could win her heart.”
He said other actors in the movie included, Soli Philander, Madeleine Badenhorst and Hardus Vermaak.
Van Niekerk has already made appearances in shows such as Binnelanders, Pandjiewinkel Stories and 7de Laan.

“The thing I love about acting is you are still the same person, but you get to escape into someone else’s life for a few hours,” he said.
“It just fascinates me.”
Van Niekerk stars as Olaff’s neighbour, Oom Apie.

Producers of the film, Dagbreek Produksies was started in 2017 by Gavine Esterhuizen.
Esterhuizen said Soetendalsvlei would be their first big film.
“We also have other plans for upcoming films,” he said.
