Business lunch brings ambitious women together

An inspiring lunch made a big difference in the world of local women in business.

Zelda le Grange – former private secretary to Nelson Mandela – was the guest speaker at the Pretoria branch of the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) year-end lunch last week.

Le Grange spoke about how the iconic former president changed her view of herself and how simple things like being on time and working hard carved her place in South African politics for 19 years, and still do.

“She (le Grange) has an inspiring story of discipline, and effectiveness that transformed our country as we know it today, as explained in her book,” chairperson of the Pretoria branch Merlyn van der Rheede said.

“I hope to increase the number of people who come to these lunches,” said Van der Rheede.

“We hope to bring more business owners to broaden their way of thinking and to create a basis where they can learn and deliver to their communities but also contribute to our economic growth.”

The SACBW wants to celebrate women in business and establish a networking platform where business owners can learn, teach and inspire.

The ladies in attendance were in awe of Le Grange’s grace, her presence and her reputable knowledge of Mandela’s legacy.

Nyeleti Consulting sponsored the luncheon that took place on Wednesday 15 November.

Company representative Disele Mathabatha took pride in explaining her role in the company and how it affects her in the business world as a woman.

The day was rounded off with a delicious, light lunch and a book signing by Le Grange.

Be sure to mark the next SACBW webinar event, which will take place on 6 December 2017, with guest speaker Dr Flip Schutte in attendance. The theme will be “arriving in the future first”.
