Women awarded at the Women of Valor Inspirational Awards

The award ceremony was held at The Blades at Roodeplaat, North East of Pretoria on Saturday night.

Numerous women, young and old, were recognised for the role they play in society at the Women of Valor Awards.

This inaugural inspirational award ceremony hosted by the Women of Valor Network (WVN) hosted was held at The Blades at Roodeplaat, North East of Pretoria on Saturday night.

Women of Valor Network was founded by Dr Karien Henrico, with the aim to motivate, uplift, encourage and strengthen the 21st Century female through networking.

“As women, we often feel that we give so much of ourselves and our hard work is not recognised,” she said.

The nominees were nominated by someone in their community, by doing so, giving an opportunity for the WVN to celebrate who they are and inspire SA through their stories.

“The nominees were announced in June 2017 and the winners announced at a glamorous gala event at The Blades, Roodeplaat.”

In third place was Natalie Abrahams-Danster, second was Jaci Tibbit and the winner of the inspirational awards was Melissa Botes.

Dr Henrico said the aim is to motivate, uplift, encourage and strengthen the 21st Century female through networking.

“We host monthly #WOVN Coffee dates and workshops,” said Dr. Henrico.

She said with today’s social change, the role of the 21st Century female has changed tremendously.

“Societies still depict lower gender roles for women in all spheres of the community. The role woman plays within her daily life is often challenging and juggling all these responsibilities are often exhausting, leaving women feeling devalued and overwhelmed. Many women, young and old (wiser) do not value the important roles they play within society. We are the mothers, career women, carers, pillars and backbone of a community,” she said.

The #WOVN allows women the opportunity network with thousands of like-minded women all wanting the best life has to offer.

“We believe that every single person is destined for greatness, and the sooner you can harvest your passion and grow it into your calling, the more fulfilled your life will be. We are everyday people trying to make a change where ever we can,” she said.
