NUMETRO: Whats’ new at the movies?

Two new movies are showing at Nu Metro cinemas this week.

A fantasy action-thriller based on the work of master novelist Stephen King opens at Nu Metro cinemas in Pretoria this week, as well as a crime comedy starring Daniel Craig (aka James Bond) in an unexpected new role.

The dark tower (10-12PG V)

Showing at Nu Metro Menlyn Park and the VIP complex at Parkview Centre.

Their war is coming to our world…

The last gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black, determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together.

With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Most of the scenes from The Dark Tower were filmed right here in South Africa, with the supporting cast also featuring a host of well-known local actors (including Robert Whitehead and Leeanda Reddy).

The Dark Tower is a suspenseful thriller filled with spectacular special effects, and will also be screened in the multi-sensory 4DX theatre at Nu Metro Menlyn – with added in-cinema effects such as moving seats, wind, water and lightning.

Logan lucky (10-12PG LV)
