Leriba harvest festival soars
Over 2000 people flocked into the Harvest Festival this weekend.
Thousands got together for the third annual Harvest Festival at the Leriba Lodge on Sunday.
The two-day spectacular attracted over 100 wine farms that had displays on.
The festival was bigger than ever with over 2 000 guests.
Leriba Lodge spokesperson Jacquelise de Vries said the festival had three main focuses.
“The first is to give people good food and wine,” Vries said.
“The second focus is to harvest and develop young talent.
Earlier on, we had some high school musicians play for the wonderful crowd, she said.
De Vries said supporting anti-rhino poaching and other initiatives was the third focus.
“We want to make a difference in our community and country.”
Owner of Leriba Hotel and Spa Peet du Preez said the harvest was the gathering place of food, olive and wine lovers.
“The festival is a family affair, people from all different ages come here and enjoy wine, food and classical music.”
“We are planning on having an entrepreneur day soon at the lodge.
We’ll invite different schools where we can develop their business skills and so on,” he said.
He urged communities to support the less fortunate.
“Let’s open our pockets to charity, let’s help farmers feed a child.
What I am is mercy, what I have is borrowed, nothing here belongs to me,” he said.
Corita van den Berg said it had been the best event she’d been to.
“This is my first time [here] and I love the vibe, hospitality and music.
Probably one of the best in the county,” she said.
