Winderveldt musical spreading love, kindness

"Music artists have teamed up to promote human kindness and love for fellow mankind."

Two Winterveldt music artists have teamed up to promote human kindness and love for fellow mankind.

Prince Nzapheza and Thabiso DC Thabethe started the Toes (Talent Over Everything Sessions) movement to create a platform for social coercion, acts of kindness and love for mankind.

Thabethe says the movement uses the arts (mainly music and paintings/sketches) to spread the message especially to the youth via backyard Toes.

“We organise sessions and mobile gigs whereby we come together as a band ( Toes band) and do door to door performances as well as street shows for guitar and vocals,” says Thabethe .

The duo decided to form the band after their first successful session in Nzapheza’s back yard on 27 December 2014.

Thabethe is a guitarist and a vocalist while Nzapheza plays the recorder and also sings.

The band, which has already hosted two successful Toes, numerous mobs, door to door performances and informal street gigs around Pretoria, has been well-received in Winterveld after.

TUT FM has also given the events a lot of coverage.

Nzapheza and Thabethe are amazed at how their rap music has enabled social coercion and bridged the generational gap in the community.

“As friends, our hearts long for a positive world where people care and love each other, an HIV-free generation with the youth being employable/employed, the youth being free from substance abuse and any form of abuse,” he said.

The two friends believe that “heaven on earth is not a place we must find, but a place we must create.”

Last year, the Toes band made a 800 kilometre Walk Of Love trek, walking from Winterveld to De Aar in Northern Cape.

The young men are writing a book about that experience.
