Youth dance company entertains with timeless story

Cinderella first full-length production performed by the company.

The Youth Dance Company of Tshwane (YDCT) celebrated their 15 th birthday with the timeless classic

story we all know as Cinderella.

The ballet performance of Cinderella was held at the SA State Theatre Opera House on Friday evening.

“Cinderella was the first full-length production performed by the company and holds a special place in

our repertoire,” said art director Sue Kirkland.

“The piece is a symbol of the longevity of the company and embodies all that it stands for – the wonder

and beauty of classical dance, underpinned by the demands of centuries of tradition and discipline.”

The dancers, ranging from age nine to 17 years-old brought the characters of Cinderella to life along

with guest artists from the Tshwane University of Technology.

YDCT also welcomed students from the Rhythm of Hope dance programme as part of this season.

Children from Pure Hope Pre-Primary School performed with the company for the first time.

“As part of this season, YDCT hosted the very popular children’s party, Cinders and Mice during the

11:00 performance on Saturday."

The final performance will be on Sunday at 15:00. Tickets are sold at Computicket at R160 per person.
