Fun-filled festival with many treats on offer

Many residents enjoyed festival in Zwavelpoort

The Tierlantyn’kies Kuier en Koop festival kicked off in the east of Pretoria on 5 October.

Many Pretoria residents gathered to enjoy this unique festival in Zwavelpoort over the weekend.

The festival was the brainchild of Ronel Horak and three friends who had been hosting house markets and decided to join forces.

“We started planning the first Tierlantyn’kies over a cup of coffee. We realised there was a need for a space where artists and entrepreneurs could sell their handcrafted products to the public,” Horak said.

“We wanted a place where the public could buy unique products directly from the artists at affordable prices. A win-win situation.”

About 70 exhibitors were offering a variety of items, including food and deli treats.

To ensure only the best of original and creative products were on offer, Tierlantyn’kies organisers conducted careful selection before each market.

“Our sponsors, Hertex and Workspace, offer prizes for the best stalls. This is a great incentive for the exhibitors to create spectacular displays.”

The Tierlantyn’kies festival is an annual event and ends on Monday, 9 October.

Tierlantyn’kies is much more than a shopping experience. It is an inspiring and fun-filled outing for the whole family,” Horak said.
