More about the album:

Explaining the idea behind the album, Elvis said: “I always think music has the power to bring people together, or to make you feel and think about life in a different way.”

“This idea continues to be an inspiration to me, and it therefore remains a theme in the music I write.”

Pre-production of the album took place in the singer’s hometown of George – an idyllic countryside city that allowed Elvis to really let his creative juices flow.

The talented singer said working on every song was an enjoyable experience because he could go surfing and spend time with his kids daily while in pre-production.

During the making of Optics, Elvis had the opportunity to write with a myriad of different writers including Dave Katz, who wrote for pop sensation Katy Perry.

“The word ‘optics’ describes the way a person views things… and I’ve always thought that music is a bit like that; describing our perspectives on things.”

“As I wrote the songs, that is what I was thinking about, and the word optics just fits.”

The album consists of 10 brand new songs, and also includes two special edition iTunes bonus tracks.

“The other day I was sitting at home thinking of how I begged for money to be able to record my music years ago, and how difficult that was. And then I thought about how lucky I am now, to be able to do this and how absolutely important it is to me that I am able to continue doing it.

“I don’t know what other people feel when they listen to music. What I do know is, with every song I have recorded I have given all of myself. That is basically all I can do. I am only lucky if someone listens, and even more so if they like what they hear. They might cry, they might love it, they might hate it. I guess that is what makes music so great.”
