Reggae music festival to be held

Rastafarians to host a reggae music festival.

The Mamelodi Rastafarians will be hosting a free reggae music festival to celebrate the role the music played in the liberation of South Africa.

Organiser, Dineo Mashabela said the festival would take residents back to the days.

“Reggae played a critical role in the liberation of our country. It is necessary for us to take it back to the people. It has been a long time since reggae has been spoken about,” said Mashabela adding that the objective of the festival was to share the reggae sound with the community.

“We [organisers] are encouraging a good relationship between the community and the Rastafarians. We are going to give the community pure reggae. And we are looking forward to the feast.”

He said the festival was hosted under the theme ‘add a little bit of reggae and you will feel Irie’.

“We want to encourage young artists to also get in reggae music. Reggae is not about marijuana but a religion. We should come together to share our music,” said Lucky Ndaba.

The Reggae Feast will take place on 1 May, at West Corner Lounge from noon till late. The lined up live artists are JahRod, King Yello 2nd, Papa Zama, Zion Vibrations, Wadada, King Kalu and many others. Admission is free.
