Eersterust-born Clyryll Mash (28), better known as Mist in the rap space is a young rapper and model whose music makes the Eersterust community proud.
“I have listened to a few of his songs and I must say his music is the future,” said an excited Ronald Vorster (17) who was inspired by Mash.
Mash caught the country’s attention by recording a remix “Skhot so hard”, which went viral, a redo of Jay Z and Kanye West’s hit.
Mash is very passionate about music and said it was the only thing that kept him sane when he endeavoured the impossible of this world.
“I discovered my ability to rap when I was 17. I was introduced to Eminem who inspired my music,” said Mash.
He has also released two smash hits #Hastags and Aerobics produced by Mabopane’s Junior Taurus.
In 2005, Mash matriculated at the Deutsche Schule Pretoria, a German medium school.
Has recorded a song called Skhothane Anthem, tackling the controversial lifestyle led by young people.
“As a young man I plan to make music that’s relevant to my peers and society. The anthem really breaks down the notion of skhothane as a lifestyle.
Apart from music, Mash is also a community builder. He has been involved in a number of community projects through his church.
Mash has founded many music groups with friends but is currently working as a solo artist.
He is signed to Cap City Records, a Pretoria-based music production company.
His wife, Claudeen, said she was happy about his achievements.
“He makes me proud each day as he keeps on pushing for his music. He is using his God-given talent to do wonders with his life and to change the young people in his community,” she said.
Mash said he wanted to be a great father one day and a role model in the music industry.
“I want to be remembered for the great man I am and a great musician once I am gone. I want to leave a legacy for my children and a mark in the music world.”
He has appeared on a reality talent show called Can Do and has been interviewed by TransAfrica Radio, Metro FM and YFM.
Last September, Mash released a video for his single, titled Sandton. The video has been on constant rotation on MTV Base and Channel O after debuting in the top 10 on the YFM charts.
His music can be found on ReverbNation, iTunes and Youtube.
Mash promised his fans he would drop the much anticipated single, Nyoso, early this year.
The rapper seems to have grown significantly over the years, and his future in the music industry holds a lot of promise.
