If you’re hanging around in Pretoria during the December holidays, and meet someone new, consider taking him or her on a very romantic, yet unusual first date.
1. Visit the love bridge
The Pretoria love bridge opened more than a year ago, with a lot of love locks already hanging from the bridge, drawing much inspiration from the famous Pont Des Arts bridge in Paris, France.
Consider taking your date on a romantic stroll of the Magnolia Dell park and if the relationship seems to be going strong, put a love lock on the bridge for you to visit every year.
2. Go for a picnic
If you and your date like the outdoors, consider a picnic at Pretoria’s Union Buildings, with an exquisite view of the city and a lush garden.
The picturesque gardens, trees and flowers provide a lovely haven of peace and quiet amid Pretoria central’s buzzing hustle and bustle.
3. Go book shopping
Book hunting can be extremely satisfying if you and your date consider yourselves avid readers. What better way to spend your first date than to share interests like books, stories and imagination?
Browse through topics you both like. Teach each other, discuss and debate. Or even better, buy a cook book and learn how to prepare the meals together.
4. Visit art galleries
Go on a trip around Pretoria’s funkiest art galleries, sharing in each other’s opinions and preferences.
Sharing your creativity is a great way to share thoughts and get to know each other even better.
5. Rose picking
If you’re a nature lover and you’d like to treat your date to something that ignites your interests, consider picking roses. Not only can this kind of date be extremely therapeutic, but you and your date can enjoy a lovely, relaxing day with each other.
6. Ice-skating
The Grove mall in Pretoria has a newly built ice-skating rink, which can be incredibly romantic for first dates.
