Horror movie master dies

The famous horror movie maker, Wes Craven, has died at the age of 76.

The horror movie filmmaker, Wes Craven, has passed away at the age of 76 on Sunday afternoon.

Craven was most famous for directing movies like A Nightmare on Elm Street and the 90s horror hit Scream.

His family said in a statement that he died after suffering from brain cancer.

He suffered illness over the past three years, but still continued to work on TV shows, a graphic novel film and a new movie called The Girl in the Photographs, which will be released at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival in September.

In his life, Craven received lifetime achievement awards by the New York City Horror Film Festival and the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.

He leaves behind his his wife, a son, a daughter and a stepdaughter.
