Kievits Kroon transformed

The third annual Robertson Wine Valley Festival was a tremendous success.

Walking into the Kievits Kroon Country Estate this weekend, you would be forgiven for thinking you have somehow been transported to the magnificent Western Cape wine route.

The third annual Robertson Wine Valley Festival, held at the beautiful Kievits Kroon Estate this past weekend, brought the magic of the wine route to the heart of Pretoria.

Thousands of wine lovers descended on the tranquil estate to taste the wines that some of South Africa’s best wineries had brought along.

Each winery was eager to let the guests taste its products. They passionately explained the subtle nuances of each wine and the intricacies of the wine-making process — from how the barrels affect the flavour of the wine to the politics of the industry.

The festival was open to the entire family. Large play areas ensured that even the young ones had a good time.

Though the focus was on wine, guests at the festival could also taste other fine things — from organic coffee and honey to olive oils and decadent organic cashew and almond butters, made by the non-profit company Jozi’s Nut Butters.

The Robertson Wine Valley Festival has grown in leaps and bounds since its inception at Kievits Kroon, and next year’s festival promises to be even better.
