Pretoria to host exciting whisky festival

Pretoria ready to welcome the world's best whiskies.

Pretorians will have a chance to experience South Africa’s premier whisky tasting event, The Whisky Live Showroom at the elegant 012 Central venue in the city centre on 14 and 15 May.

Emily Stockden of Whisky Live Festival said a showcase of more than 80 whisky expressions will give Pretorians the opportunity to sample some of the most premium and intriguing expressions ever seen in the country.

“We have chosen 012 Central as the ideal venue for the first Whisky Live Showroom in Pretoria because it is in the heart of Tshwane’s urban renewal programme,” she said.

The venue is located on one of the city’s most historic streets, surrounded by iconic buildings like the State Theatre, Reserve Bank and the Union Buildings.

“It is also home to people who are smooth and sophisticated – just like whisky drinkers,” City Property’s Jeffrey Wapnick said.

Although the event is about whisky, Pretorians will also be introduced to craft beer.

Tickets to the Whisky Live Showroom are available on www.whiskylivefestival.co.za and will cost R170. The price includes a complimentary tasting glass, a bottle of spring water and 15 tasting vouchers.

The first 500 people to attend will also receive a free copy of the 2015 Whisky Handbook.
