Celebrating World Book Day

23 April is World Book Day. Rekord takes a look at ten books you have to read in your lifetime.

Today we celebrate World Book Day. World Book Day is an annual event on 23 April that is organised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), to promote reading, publishing and copyright across the globe.

Celebrate World Book Day by making sure you read these ten titles before kicking the bucket:

  1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  2. The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
  3. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
  4. The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling
  5. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  6. The Bible
  7. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brönte
  8. Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell
  9. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
  10. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
