Body infested with tape worms after eating Sushi

There is nothing wrong with a piece of Sushi now and then but there is a whole lot wrong with a human body riddled with tape worms after digesting contaminated sashimi.

A Sushi lover nearly died after his entire body had been infested with tape worms after he allegedly ate contaminated sashimi.

According to MailOnline, the Chinese man visited his doctor after he started experiencing stomach ache and itchy skin. After conducting a few scans the doctor from the Guangzhou No. 8 People’s Hospital in Guangdong Province, in eastern China, revealed the horrifying discovery.

“Tapeworm infections occur after ingesting the larvae of diphyllobothrium, found in freshwater fish such as salmon, although marinated and smoked fish can also transmit the worm,” MailOnline said.

According to WebMD, signs and symptoms include nausea, weakness, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, hunger or loss of appetite, fatigue, weight loss, vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

“However, often having tapeworms does not cause symptoms. The only sign of tapeworm infection may be segments of the worms, possibly moving, in a bowel movement,” WebMD is.

WebMD warned that in rare cases, tapeworms can lead to serious complications, including blocking of the intestine. “If pork tapeworm eggs are accidentally swallowed, they can migrate to other parts of the body and cause damage to the liver, eyes, heart and brain. These infections can be life-threatening,” it warned.
