Mango Groove entertains locals at the botanical gardens

The first show of the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens concert season was a raging success

The Old Mutual Music in the Gardens 2014 concert season has finally started with a performance by Mango Groove on Sunday, 18 May.

Excited fans crowded the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens to watch Mango Groove fill the gardens with their famous sound.

Christi Kriek, who attended the concert with friends, was especially excited about the show. “This is the first time that I will see Mango Groove live and I am thrilled,” Kriek said.

Another member of the audience, Jacob Tahl, said that though he had seen Mango Groove live more than once, he could not wait for the show to start.

Pretorians can also look forward to the rest of the season, which will stretch from May to November 2014, as popular artists such as Jimmy Dludu, The Muffinz, AKA, Reason, Johnny Clegg and Mi Casa will perform at the and the Pretoria and the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens.

“Held in idyllic settings among an assortment of indigenous and exotic plants, the concerts are not only an opportunity to listen to some great South African music in the company of family and friends, but also contribute directly to the maintenance and development of these beautiful gardens,” said Old Mutual sponsorship manager Bandile Mngoma.

According to Old Mutual, the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens season is a sister project of the iconic Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts at Kirstenbosch in Cape Town and the Old Mutual Music at the Lake concerts in Durban.

Tickets for future shows are available in advance on the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Facebook page or at the gardens from R100 and on the day from R120.
