Local gospel artist releases new music video

Award-winning songstress Sibongile Sibeko releases a third music video, Joko Ya Hao, which is set in a church as it is a well-loved hymn from her childhood.

The talented gospel singer Sibongile Sibeko from Silverton recently released a third music video, Joko Ya Hao, on YouTube. The song is from her debut album In His Time. This multi-award-winning artist recorded the video in a Pretoria church under the direction of Brettian Productions’ Danny Antill.

Joko Ya Hao is a traditional hymn that has been covered by many artists, however, it holds special meaning for Sibeko as it reminds her of her childhood and the way her mother used to sing it. “The venue and the choir were two very important aspects of this video. We felt we needed to set it in a church environment because it is such a well-loved hymn,” Antill said.

The songstress can also be heard on the soundtrack to Khumba, the latest 3D animation film to come out of South Africa from Triggerfish Animation Studios. The film opened in cinemas on 25 October. The original soundtrack by Bruce Retief also features Loyiso Bala and Zwai Bala.

Her debut album, In His Time, was released in March 2013. Earlier this year, she received the Silver Crown Award for the best music video at the international Crown Visual Media Awards. In 2013, she also shared the stage with Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. Sibeko is dressed by S&S Designs, Pretoria.

Her album is now available in stores nationwide.
