South Africa’s delivery landscape is about to shift gears. Read more about it here.

The arrival of the all-new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter marks a turning point for businesses seeking a sustainable and efficient solution for urban deliveries. This innovative electric van combines the legendary versatility of the Sprinter range with cutting-edge electric technology.

Designed for the modern urban business

The eSprinter prioritises efficiency, boasting impressive range and ample cargo capacity. It empowers businesses to eliminate tailpipe emissions and transition to a lower-carbon future.

“This launch reaffirms our commitment to delivering cutting-edge, sustainable solutions,” says Marinus Venter, head of product, marketing and customer services for Mercedes-Benz Vans SA.

Generous performance and flexibility

The eSprinter lives up to its name with generous cargo space, battery capacity and range. Available in two body lengths and with two battery options, it adapts to various business needs.

Groundbreaking trimodular design

More than just an electric van, the eSprinter utilises a groundbreaking trimodular concept. This innovative design optimises space utilisation and low centre of gravity for better handling.

Impressive range for urban and beyond

The eSprinter delivers impressive range. Pre-production testing achieved a phenomenal 475km on a single charge with the 113kWh battery pack. Simulations suggest a potential range of up to 530km in urban areas, making it ideal for longer journeys too.

Powerful electric drive and towing capacity

The rear-mounted electric motor offers excellent advantages in terms of vehicle length, gross vehicle weight (up to 4.25t), towing capacity (up to 2t) and cargo volume (up to 14m³).

Tailored power options

South African customers have two length options and a choice of two electric motors (100kW or 150kW) with 81kWh or 113kWh battery packs. This flexibility ensures the perfect fit for individual range and payload requirements.

Battery efficiency and safety

The eSprinter prioritises battery safety with crash-proof covers and an advanced temperature control system. Moreover, the lithium iron phosphate batteries are cobalt- and nickel-free, furthering environmental responsibility.

Advanced recuperation system

The eSprinter’s regenerative braking system recovers energy while slowing down, boosting efficiency. Drivers can adjust recuperation intensity or utilise the DAUTO system for automatic adjustments based on real-time traffic situations.

Multiple drive modes and ECO Assist

The eSprinter offers three driving modes catering to comfort or maximum range needs. Additionally, ECO Assist helps optimise driving by suggesting economical deceleration based on traffic conditions.

Fast and flexible charging

The eSprinter supports both AC and DC charging. At a fast-charging station, the 81kWh battery can reach 80% in 32 minutes, while the 113kWh battery takes around 42 minutes.

Safety first

The eSprinter is equipped with numerous standard safety features, including active brake assist, cross wind assist, adaptive brake lights and intelligent speed assist with cruise control. Optional features include a reversing camera, LED headlights and active lane-keeping assist.

A legacy of innovation continues

Building on the Sprinter’s rich heritage of safety, design and technology, the eSprinter seamlessly integrates electric drive advancements with modern aesthetics.

Streamlined purchase experience

The eSprinter is available directly through Mercedes-Benz South Africa.
