Speaking about the design of the upcoming Transporter, Chief Designer Albert Kirzinger said: “The new Transporter combines a high degree of utility with the distinctively clean and iconic style of Volkswagen design. It is not just the vehicle’s overall lines, but also its individual elements that have become hallmark features of the product line.” Among many other styling elements, the latter includes the head- and taillamps, and wheels.

The new Transporter will be equipped with a set of 19-inch Indianapolis alloy wheels, which, Kirzinger says, is, thanks to its ‘iconic’ design, is ‘instantly recognisable’ as a Transporter wheel. LED headlamps will be present throughout the range. Along with the standard variant, VW will launch a more lifestyle-oriented PanAmericana model. This version is equipped with standard-fitment LED head- and taillamps, and model-specific 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

As a reminder, the new iteration (in standard-wheelbase guise) will measure 5 050mm nose to tail, with the long-wheelbase derivative measuring 5 450mm in length. In addition, the wheelbase of the standard model has been stretched by 97mm to 3 100mm, while the latter variant measures 3 500mm between the fore and aft axles.
