Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N breaks records at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

The Pikes Peak success paves the way for further development of high-performance EVs, exceeding customer expectations.

Hyundai’s high-performance electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5 N, has conquered the prestigious Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, setting new records in both the Electric Modified and Production SUV/Crossover categories.

Hyundai has attacked Pikes Peak with two Ioniq 5 N time attack (TA) spec cars and one production model. These vehicles finished the challenging 20km course, reaching over 1 438m in altitude. World Rally driver Dani Sordo secured victory in the exhibition class with a time of 9:30.852 in a TA Spec car, showcasing the vehicle’s potential.

The impressive performance wasn’t limited to modified vehicles. A near-stock Ioniq 5 N, driven by Pikes Peak rookie Ron Zaras, also conquered the course, highlighting the capabilities of the production model.

“This achievement underscores Hyundai N’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology,’ said Till Wartenberg, Hyundai N brand and motorsport leader.

The Ioniq 5 N’s success reflects the dedication of Hyundai N. The brand is committed to expanding the possibilities of electric performance with vehicles like the Ioniq 5 N production model, the Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup Car, and the TA Spec variant. They plan to introduce more special models to broaden the electric motorsports landscape.

This victory marks another significant chapter in Hyundai’s Pikes Peak history. The car manufacturer has participated in the event since 1992, achieving podium finishes and a course record in 2012.
