Chery has continued its impressive climb, securing the top spot in the automotive category of the prestigious Google Kantar BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders for the second year running.

Chery has ranked in the top spot of the 2024 Google Kantar report. This report, compiled by Kantar, highlights the exceptional performance of the Chinese automotive industry. This year saw the inclusion of a record eight Chinese auto brands, with the sector demonstrating a remarkable 51% increase in brand strength.

Chery stands out in this competitive landscape. For two consecutive years, it has emerged as the undisputed leader, showcasing its dedication to exceeding customer expectations.

Building trust and value for global consumers

“While Chery’s brand value has surpassed that of competitors, the overall growth and strength of Chinese auto brands is incredibly encouraging,” says Tony Liu, executive deputy general manager of Chery South Africa.

The report reveals a key consumer trend – trust is paramount. Three-quarters of respondents identified “trust in these brands” and the “ability to meet unique demands” as primary motivators for choosing Chinese brands. These factors resonate strongly with Chery’s customer base, solidifying its reputation as a preferred global automotive choice.

Stellar performance backed by sales success

Chery’s brand strength is linked to its impressive sales figures. In 2023, the brand achieved record-breaking exports of 937 148 vehicles, reflecting a staggering 101.1% year-on-year increase. This accomplishment further cements Chery’s position as the leading Chinese passenger vehicle exporter for 21 consecutive years. The momentum continues in 2024, with cumulative sales reaching 902 209 vehicles for the first five months, representing a remarkable 51% year-on-year growth.

Trusted products drive an international customer base

Chery has cultivated a loyal international customer base exceeding 14 million users through its commitment to delivering high-quality products, and the Tiggo family of SUVs has been instrumental in this success story.
