New Runflat Tyre system protects against spikings

Want more protection while out on the road? SVI Engineering now offers tyre technology that could provide you with the peace of mind you desire.

A South African company, SVI Engineering, is offering a new solution to combat the growing threat of spiking incidents – the Flats Over runflat tyre safety band system.

Tests at a Gerotek facility showed the system allowing a vehicle to travel 23km at 50km/h even after its tyres had lost pressure from spikes. This allows drivers to maintain control and avoid stopping in potentially dangerous situations.

The robust rubber rings also minimise wheel damage from potholes, a common concern for drivers.

Widespread compatibility

The system can be fitted to various vehicles, including armoured cars, passenger cars, trailers and those with 16- to 23-inch wheels.

Installation is quick, requires no special tools and could be handled by most trained tyre shops.

Peace of mind

Flats Over provides a reliable solution for drivers seeking to enhance safety on the road.

With prices starting from R43 786 (excluding VAT) for a set of four, it offers a valuable investment.

Multi-purpose defence

Flats Over also offers protection against ballistic attacks, withstanding multiple gunshots.
