The Haval H9 is distinguished by its boxy physique and seven-seat configuration. A horizontally slotted grille and circular headlights are defining features of the vehicle’s front fascia, whereas vertical taillights and a barn-style tailgate are the focal points of the rear. At the time of the publication, its interior appointments and styling were unknown.

The Chinese MIIT’s catalogue lists petrol and diesel variants of the second-generation H9, which are both four-cylinder engines.

According to CarNewsChina, the H9 is expected to debut within the first half of this year.

The H9 is founded on a 2 850mm wheelbase and features short front and rear overhangs likely employed to increase approach and departure angles. The all-wheel-drive petrol variant of the H9 is expected to feature a 2l turbocharged engine reportedly capable of producing 180kW and 385N.m. The two-wheel-drive diesel variant will reportedly rely on a 2.4l engine outputting 137kW. The source claims that the petrol variant will rely on an eight-speed automatic transmission, whereas the diesel variant will employ a nine-speed automatic transmission.

In China, the current H9 model is being sold for 215 000 Yuan (roughly R570 000 based on current exchange rates), and the second generation is expected to be priced within arm’s length of the current price. This is merely speculation, as there has been no official confirmation regarding pricing. Car Magazine has reached out to Haval SA to enquire about the possibility of the second-generation H9 being sold in South Africa, given that the first-generation model had previously been sold in the country. As of the time of publication, no official statement had been provided.
