Ford testing clandestine Everest Wildtrak X

Could this then be the more off-road capable version of the Ford SUV?

Ford has been spotted testing a more hardcore-looking Everest which wears strikingly similar modifications to the Ranger Wildtrak X.

Spotted and published by CarExpert undergoing testing on the streets of Melbourne, this lightly camouflaged vehicle exhibits similar design features to the Ranger Wildtrak X. Notable changes include integrated LED lights within the grille, an elevated ride height compared to the standard Everest, distinctive badges which have been concealed, General Grabber all-terrain tires, black wheels, and what seems to be a two-piece front bumper.

The Everest Wildtrak X is anticipated to share the same position-sensitive Bilstein dampers with an external reservoir and new springs beneath its exterior. Additional enhancements are expected to include Trail Control, an off-road cruise control feature, and Turn Assist, a tool that reduces the turning radius through individual wheel braking. All of these upgrades would undoubtedly inflate the price but make it a more competent and complete offering for venturing off of the beaten path.

No official information on the model has been released yet and Ford South Africa has reiterated it will share more details closer to its completion, should the rest of the project go through as planned. Based on typical timelines, should all go well, the Everest Wildtrak X could hit the market before the end of the year. Since the Ranger and Everest have been following similar programs with tailored models like the Tremor, Wildtrak and Platinum, there may still also be the possibility of a V6-powered Raptor Everest too although this is also on our part, still wishful thinking.
