Volkswagen’s special edition Golf 8 R 333 sold out in 8 minutes

The R 333 limited edition, sold for a staggering price of R1.6m, is referred to as the most powerful production Golf ever.

The latest Volkswagen hot hatch caused quite a stir when it was unveiled last week. Despite its hefty price tag, all 333 Golf 8 R 333 special edition models have already found homes within eight minutes of the order books opening!

Head of product communications at Volkswagen Stefan Voswinkel announced that all 333 units of this hot hatch were promptly spoken for as soon as the order books were opened. The special edition model was exclusively sold to the German market, not giving other markets a chance to process the set price. The sheer velocity with which these cars were snapped up is a testament to the unwavering appeal of the Golf R brand as well as the undeniable allure of limited edition vehicles.

With a staggering price converted to R1.6m, many initially scoffed at the notion of a Volkswagen Golf reaching such figures. It seemed ludicrous, beyond reason even, to associate such a price tag with a vehicle bearing the Volkswagen emblem and moniker that had humble origins as an affordable commuter. Yet, in a twist that caught even the most ardent critics off guard, market demand proved otherwise.

The limited production run of the Golf 8 R 333 added an aura of exclusivity to an already remarkable vehicle. The fortunate few who managed to secure one of these coveted models can revel in the knowledge that they possess an extraordinary piece of automotive craftsmanship.

As a reminder, the newcomer serves as the most potent model to wear the R badge, with 245kW and 420N.m able to catapult it to 100km/h from standstill in 4.6 seconds.

The demand for this specific Volkswagen has far surpassed initial expectations, reinforcing the timeless adage that true excellence knows no bounds.
