A woman was critically injured after being shot multiple times at an N3 underpass in Bedfordview this morning, with early reports suggesting a planned attack, reports Bedfordview Edenvale News.

This comes a week after a lawyer was shot and killed in the Johannesburg CBD.

Bedfordview’s RAG Security rushed to the Boeing Road N3 underpass after reports of the shooting. On arrival at around 07:25, they found a woman who had been shot three times.

Emergency services, including SAPS and ambulance crews, were immediately dispatched, and the area was secured.

The victim was transported to hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

Early reports suggest the attack may have been planned, though the motive is still unknown.

RAG Security praises response officers for acting quickly, providing medical aid on-site and co-ordinating with nearby emergency responders during the first 60 minutes following the injury.

Authorities believe the woman was followed from Disa Road in Bedfordview.

An investigation is ongoing.

Bedfordview police were contacted for comment, but none was forthcoming at the time of publication.

Woman shot in a separate incident a week ago

Last Monday, 35-year-old Krugersdorp lawyer Chinette Gallichan was fatally shot while walking to a meeting at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration on Fox Street in the Johannesburg CBD.

She was allegedly followed by her attackers and national media has widely reported that the killing had the ‘hallmarks of a targeted hit’.

Police investigations are ongoing.
