Woman set to appear in Vryburg court after boiling water attack

A woman is expected to appear in court following an incident in Rosendal that left another woman in hospital with severe burn injuries.

A woman is due to appear in the Vryburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (August 3) following her arrest for attempted murder.

The Witness reports that Huhudi police responded to a complaint on Friday afternoon (July 31), where they found a 32-year-old victim with severe burn injuries to her upper body.

The woman was reportedly in severe pain and unable to speak. Police called Emergency Medical Services and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect faces a charge of attempted murder after another woman was scalded with boiling water, allegedly by the suspect during an argument in Rosendal in the Free State.

North West police commissioner Lieutenant General Arthur Adams condemned the incident and urged community members to resolve disputes peacefully, saying no disagreement justifies violence that puts another person’s life at risk.
