Woman dies after being electrocuted in Mossel Bay
A woman died after her selfie stick reportedly touched a high-voltage line while she was taking photographs in the Western Cape.
A 25-year-old woman died after she was electrocuted while in Visagie Street in Island View yesterday, reports Mossel Bay Advertiser.
Southern Cape Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said the Da Gamaskop Police have registered an inquest docket following the incident which took place at about 12:35.
Pojie said, according to reports, the woman had been taking photographs when her selfie stick reportedly touched a high-voltage line.
Reports from the scene indicate the woman was allegedly trying to photograph a property using a selfie stick that could reach up to three metres.
Pojie said the woman was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel and that the investigation is ongoing.
Her identity has not yet been released.
